Boys’ Brigade is a uniformed organisation for boys aged between 5 and 18. We meet every Thursday during school term time and the 1st Barry Company plays a vital role in trying to reach boys and young men with the good news about Jesus Christ.
Anchor Boys Age 5-8 6pm - 7pm
Junior section Age 8-11 7pm - 8.30pm
Company & Senior Section Age 11-18 7pm – 9pm
A typical night consists of a wide range of activities from cooking to working with puppets, from health and safety to fitness and wellbeing, with lots of team games and time to socialise. Badges are awarded throughout the year for achievement in each area and these contribute towards gaining awards.
As part of our programme we regularly go out to do different activities such as swimming, bowling and wide games. We also hold an annual camp for the company and senior section when we spend a week just outside Builth Wells in Powys. It’s an action packed week with activities such as archery, kayaking, climbing, sports and much more.
At the 1st Barry Boys’ Brigade we encourage Christian values, team work, fair play, self respect and respect for others. We spend time looking at the Bible and how it speaks to us today. In everything we do we emphasise the importance of having fun and building relationships with others.
All of the Boys’ Brigade Leaders, in line with current church policy are CRB checked and anyone who leaves their child in the care of the Boys’ Brigade can be completely confident that the safety and security of the boys is paramount.
The Boys' Brigade will care for and challenge young people for life through a programme of informal education underpinned by the Christian faith.
